Gustavo Garcia-Herreros
Originally born in Colombia. I migrated to Canada in the winter of 2003. I came with little to no English. One piece of luggage, and a huge sack of dreams. The purpose was to find a stream path to richness. I was willing to sacrifice my family and friends for the lifestyle I wanted in exchange for my dreams. The goal was clear to me. The way for me to achieve it is not so much. I knew one thing; I was not going to sit on the sidelines to wait for things to happen. Of course, I had to start from the bottom and find my way up. That involved me getting out of my comfort zone and start behaving in a different way. Especially in a new country where everything was so much different from what I knew. Learning new skills and the language was a must.
I had many odd jobs at once, even after securing a more established one, as a Teller at one of the big banks in Canada. It didn’t take too long before I began climbing on the corporate ladder to become Senior Manager at that same bank. A role that offered me a clear sense of the financial market in Canada. Managing a team of more than 30 individuals helped me improve my leadership and people management skills. My ability to set priorities, goals, create processes and procedures, hire new staff and I also saw the need to fire others. Which gave me transferable skills that I use every day in my real estate investing career.
My job also taught me how to invest in the stock market. I became good at it, and I was able to build capital quickly allowing me to achieve one of my goals, buying a home. I pulled all my invested money and used it as a down payment for my Lakeview condo in Downtown Toronto. Despite the excitement I felt at that time though, I was also afraid of such commitment, and the ongoing cost this would involve. It didn’t take long for me to realize that although I now owned my home, I was living paycheck to paycheck still. My investment money had all gone into the down payment. no savings left, and no other stream of income besides my hard-working job. I understood I needed to do something different to continue pursuing my dreams.
In December 2014, I saw the need to find the right support and guidance from those who had conquered and lived the life I so desperately wanted. I started my education as a real estate investor then. I went into more debt to pay for my first tuition. The whole idea was insane to me at the beginning, but I think I was ready to get to the next level. I learned how to manage my money. Since I’ve invested more than $180K in personal development and real estate education alone.
In July 2015, I secured my first Lease Option deal, and that same month I also purchased my very first triplex property. I then continued to add additional properties to my portfolio experiencing a relatively fast growth in my real estate portfolio based on both the Lease Option and the Income Property Multi-Family strategy. I consider those my baby strategies. From there, I expanded my investments by including other strategies in the mix. Strategies like Serviced Accommodations, Wholesale, Private Lending, and Distressed Properties. I guess you could say I’ve diversified myself by using multiple RE strategies in multiple countries as well, Canada, USA, and Colombia. Gaining tons of knowledge and experience along the way.
Today, I’ve built a solid real estate portfolio that has transformed my life. I owe this transformation to not only my willingness to take action but also my mentor’s support and expert advice. I wouldn’t say it has been as easy. I’ve experienced ups and downs. On one occasion I lost $100K of my own money after a private lending deal went wrong. Yet, the lesson only made me stronger as an investor. More detail-oriented and pro-active in securing not only my own portfolio but those of my JV partners and mentees as well.
Outside investing, traveling gets me going! I enjoy soccer. Oil painting is one of my many hobbies. Nothing better than a fine glass of scotch and having an amusing conversation with my wife just before going to bed. I like outdoor events. I believe I’m easygoing, and I enjoy a good laugh. I consider myself pretty handyman. I even dared to reno a house on my own, and with fisher price tools ☺. I can share that story later!
I have a passion for helping people achieve their financial dreams. I want to be of service, I offer you my knowledge, skills, and experience to give you a hand in reaching your goals and dreams. Trust Your Talent is the perfect space to nourish your success!

Liliam Vasquez-Davila
Serial Entrepreneur with a Passion for Teaching and Learning
As a child, my curiosity led me to explore new things, languages, and cultures. Born in Venezuela and spending much of my childhood and teenage years in the U.S., I developed a deep appreciation for diverse experiences. I consider myself a dreamer and creator of amazing opportunities, always seeking growth.
In my early 20s, I returned to Venezuela, where I earned a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering. My work as a bilingual engineer and translator ignited my passions for teaching English as a Second Language and entrepreneurship. These passions drove me to establish a highly successful ESL Academy, serving over 1,200 students annually—an accomplishment that remains one of the highlights of my career.
In 2004, my family and I moved to Canada, where I continued to expand my professional credentials with a TESOL Certificate, a Certificate in Adult and Continuing Education (CACE), and a CTDP designation. In 2014, we discovered real estate investing and home staging, skills that transformed our family’s legacy forever.
Within 4.5 years, we built a thriving real estate portfolio across multiple provinces, achieving financial independence and earning induction into the Legacy International Hall of Fame in 2019. Our success continues as we create win-win opportunities for our family and partners.
Over the last 9.5 years, we’ve leveraged various strategies, including lease options, income properties (single-family and multi-family), wholesaling, distressed properties, infills, and portfolio income, to build the lifestyle we always dreamed of. Additionally, we’ve established the largest home staging company in Edmonton, AB, creating a powerful income stream. We now run our business from anywhere in the world, thanks to the power of leverage, resourcefulness, systems, and strong relationships—one of our greatest blessings.
As an instructor and mentor, I empower my mentees to achieve financial freedom through effective goal setting, business development, and real estate strategies. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with family, traveling the world, fine dining, and exploring new cultures.

Stephen Cheung
Stephen was born in Hong Kong and moved to Canada at the age of 16. His parents worked hard for the government for their whole life but never actually owned any property or traveled freely to enjoy life. This enlightened Stephen to pursue a different lifestyle as he did not want to be working for someone else and trading his time for money.
After he graduated from the University of British Columbia in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Stephen started operating his own computer and IT business. While the business was profitable, his hectic schedule eventually took a toll on his physical and mental health. At that point, he decided to make some changes for a better quality of life.
In 2013, Stephen read the Book “Rich Dad Poor Dad”. and that had completely changed his mindset. He then attended numerous trainings on property investing and learned how money can work hard for him so that he can live off passive income while enjoying the freedom and time to do the things he had always wanted. Since then, he has become an international property investor buying and owning properties in Canada, US and in the UK, and achieved financial freedom. Furthermore, Stephen has been invited to teach investing strategies and share his success story with thousands of investors around the world including Canada, US, Singapore, Hong Kong, Australia, New Zealand and all over Europe. In March 2023, Stephen was also on the same stage with Robert Kiyosaki in Melbourne, Australia, teaching thousands of investors together on stage. At Trust Your Talent Academy, we are honoured to have Stephen to share his Real Estate Investing Knowledge to our community at our Workshops.
During Covid when traveling was not an option, Stephen explored and researched trading with his business partner. The resilient duo initially lost 7 figures in USD but was able to weather the storm and finally developed a solid trading strategy that made up for all the loss and eventually generated consistent profits. Soon afterwards, Stephen’s Strategy became popular and was sought after to share. He eventually developed the Paper Asset course at Trust Your Talent Academy to share this robust trading strategy based on Mathematics and Logic, so that hundreds of traders are now following and trading with his strategy globally and earning another stream of passive income.

Richard Zhang
Richard Zhang is a mathematician who left corporate life to build a life by design through real estate.
After earning a PhD in Mathematics from MIT, he spent about a year and a half working 80-hour weeks in corporate and venture-backed roles. The path was title-driven and status-focused, and from the outside it looked like success. But the tradeoff was real: little control over time, constant pressure, burnout, anxiety, and exposure to unhealthy work environments.
Having lived in eight cities across China, Finland, Canada, and the United States, he had enough distance to see that prestige often comes at the cost of freedom.
That realization led him to real estate investing, ownership, leverage, and time would finally work together for his benefit.
Today, Richard is a real estate investor and operator managing over $4M in assets across Ohio, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Mississippi, and Florida. Since leaving his job in 2022, he has built this portfolio in under three years and generated over half a million US dollars in wealth to share with his investors. He started with small multifamily, fix-and-flip projects, contract-for-deed, lease options, and private lending, learning the business from the ground up. Those early years shaped how he operates today: a focus on cashflow, downside protection, and deal structures that are win-win for all parties involved.
Richard continues to operate these strategies while expanding into larger multifamily and assisted living projects.
As an instructor at Trust Your Talent, Richard teaches practical approaches to raising capital for real estate. He believes capital raising is not about begging or luck. It is about clarity, systems, and trust built through consistent, honest execution.
Fundraising sits at the center of his work. He primarily works with high-earning W-2 / T4 professionals in tech who want passive income and diversification without becoming landlords. His role is to structure win-win opportunities, where passive investors can participate in real estate returns without dealing with tenants, toilets, or day-to-day operations.
When not analyzing deals or teaching, you’ll find Richard traveling the world with his husband Kevin. They spend 50% of the year exploring everywhere from Seattle to Siem Reap, Istanbul to Amsterdam. They’re also avid mah-jong players and love catching movies in theaters.

Andrew Cowe
A Serial Entrepreneur born and raised by a loving family in the great City of Toronto, Andrew has always had a strong passion for business. As a young child, he started several small ventures including setting up stands to sell ‘Kool-Aid beverages, and a ‘business’ to repair Yo-yo’s for other kids in his neighbourhood. In his teenage years he continued with his entrepreneurial spirit by forming a mobile audio production studio to create song recordings for local bands, a live events company focused on showcasing musical acts, all while continuing high school and holding a part-time job from the age of 14. Andrew went on to pursue post-secondary education by attending University and obtaining a degree before entering the workforce, where he excelled as a Sales Consultant Team Lead & Account Manager. Even while achieving success through his career in B2B sales, he continued to create new business models, highlighted by a sports gear personalization company that ran for several years before being sold at the beginning of the pandemic.
Despite the successes of his previous ventures, Andrew had always been intrigued by real estate and the fact that so many successful people had used it as a vehicle to create long term wealth, allowing them to live life on their own terms. In 2019, he took action and attended his first real estate investing seminar to learn how he-to could create a legacy of time freedom for him and his family – from that moment, and for those reasons, he was hooked!
His passion for real estate and the life it could create was unwavering as he continued to get educated. He understood that the life formula often promoted by society of; go to school, get a job, work for 50 years, and then retire to finally enjoy life, didn’t quite match the values of time freedom he had. After attending a bootcamp with Trust Your Talent, Andrew committed to his dreams by enrolling into the program where he immediately boosted his financial literacy and went on to execute on deals with fellow TYT students and partners using a combination of different strategies including; Distressed Properties, Creative Financing, Duplex Conversions, Multi-Family Apartment Buildings, Fix and Flips, Private lending, Short Term Rentals, and Joint Venture Partnerships.Living big through his frame and ambition, he is an aspiring philanthropist understanding that the pursuit of wealth is worthless without being able to share it with family, friends, and those who would benefit from a helping hand.
Andrew continues to be a lifelong learner while investing in real estate. He is passionate about working with others to share the various strategies of real estate investing can make an impact in so many positive ways. He believes that we can all live the life we have always wanted by taking action using the right steps as we work towards our goals. His wife, son, and family continue to create his WHY, because, as he likes to reference, “You can have all of the wealth and cash-flowing properties in the world, but without family and friends, it’s just brick and mortar.”

Jeffrey Li
Hello, I am Jeffrey Li. I am a husband and father, I am also a dreamer, action taker, real estate investor, trainer, and mentor.
If you have a dream in your heart that one day, you don’t have to work for someone else but yourself, and you can control your own time on more meaningful things in your life, such as spending more time with your kids and family, or you believe you deserve something different or bigger in your life, I hope my experience can give you some help.
I had been a working professional for 20 years, and my job only let me become busier and busier, I can see my days until I retire, and I didn’t like office politics. I hoped I could quit my job, but how? I believe real estate can help me and in fact, I have owned real estate for many years; however, today I called myself a property collector for those days, and I thought buying a few properties and hole them long time will make me rich. However, those properties I owned, all had big negative cash flow, I had to take out hundreds of thousands of dollars every month from my pay cheque to pay the deficit, and I had to work even harder to make more money. I could only make money from those properties when I sold them after years and only if the market were higher than I bought them. Until I had my real estate investing education, I didn’t know I could build a system for real estate investing, and I could use the system to build a portfolio that I can rely on to achieve my financial freedom and financial independence.
I started my real estate investing from cash flow strategies, and I decided to quit my job within one year since I started and became a full-time investor even before I achieved my financial freedom. With the boat burned, the only option left for me as a husband and father was to take massive action so that I can use the investment cash flow to support my family, give my kids better education, and achieve my financial freedom.
Over the years, I have been using multiple investment strategies to build my portfolio with both short-term strategies and long-term strategies, such as lease option, private lending, income properties and distressed properties.
Today, my goal as a mentor and trainer is to help my students not only buy one or two properties, but to hold their hands on their financial journey and build a system that they can use to build their long-term portfolio and generate generations of wealth.
